Grindhouse: Deathproof
Grindhouse: Deathproof is supposed to be part of a two parter in a the movie Grindhouse. The Singapore censorship board (those bloody w*nkers) saw fit to only release Deathproof without showing the other part, Planet Terror, concurrently. The premise itself was supposed to be very interesting, with the two films separated by fake trailers for fake movies. But alas the effect was to be spoilt by this cruel decision.
Deathproof happens to be the part directed by Quentin Tarantino and I guess you have to be a fan of his movies to appreciate this one. Make no mistake about it, this is a fun movie. Don't come looking at this for the plot which was basically non-existant, but rather for the sheer fun-ness of it.
This movie follows a crazy driver named, Stuntman Mike, who has some serious issued with beautiful women. He drives around in his "deathproof" muscle car, killing women. The first part traces how he did it and I must say the murder method was pretty ingenious to allow him to get away relatively scott free.
The second part occurs when he tries to kill another group of women but they fight back. Themes of female empowerment are thrown in for good measure.
The best part of the movie was probably the ending scene, which had the theather in stitches.
All in all, this was a superb movie, full of action for the tetestrone filled guy.
